Creating a Slideshow in DVDSP
Slideshows show off a series of images in a linear order. Slideshows are limited to 99 slides. If you have more than 99 slides, you can link slideshows together to accommodate them. You can have a slide last for a specific timeframe or have the viewer determine when they move to the next slide by hitting the NEXT or BACK key on their remote. You can either place sound on each individual slide or you can run a continuous audio stream under all slides. You can make the slideshows interactive by converting them to Tracks after you are done formatting them.

Still images in slideshows can be one of the following formats:

PICT Single layer PSD BMP JPEG
Quicktime TGA (Targa) TIFF  MacPaint

If the files are not in the 720X480 pixel format, DVDSP will reformat them to fit in that size. Don't forget to put on the broadcast-safe color space in Photoshop. If they don't fit the aspect ratio, DVDSP will fill in the extra pixels with a background color that you set in the Preferences dialogue box.

Otherwise, slide shows are prepared exactly the way media is for the rest of DVDSP.

Adding Audio Streams
You can assign an audio file to each slide or a single audio track to the entire Slide Show. If you do assign individual audio files to each slide, each file must have the same format, bit rate and sample rate. DVDSP supports the following audio formats: AIFF, WAV, SDII, MP3 and AC-3. The first asset you add to the slideshow is the default asset type all audio after that. If you try to drop a different file type, DVDSP will give you an error dialogue box.

To add an audio stream to the entire Slide Show:

1. Drag the audio stream from the assets container over the Audio button.

After you drop the audio, you will have three options in the Slideshow Inspector: fit to audio, fit to slides, loop audio. If you choose the Fit to Audio button, DVDSP will calculate each slide's duration based on the duration of the soundtrack.

If you choose the Fit to Slides option, the slideshow will be based on the individual slide duration and the audio will stop playing once the Slide Show ends.

If you choose to Fit the Audio to the Slideshow length and the Slideshow is longer that the audio stream, you can also choose to loop the audio by checking the Loop Audio box in the Inspector.

To Add Audio to a Slide
1. Drag the audio asset on top of the slide you want it to play with.

2. The slide will play for the duration of the audio asset.

To Delete Audio Assets:

DVDSP adds Chapter Markers with the slide's name at the beginning of each slide.
