In-class Assignment #5

The goal is to understand how a overlay menu works (or a motion menu if you're more advanced) within DVDSP. After this assignment, you should understand how to create a menu for DVDSP using overlay Photoshop documents. You should also understand how to define the colors for a the selected and activated states on simple highlight menus.

1. Copy the 2.27.ass folder from the network to the user folder>IDST 144 on your hard drive. If there isn't an 144 folder on your hard drive, create one for this class. Open up the Specialfeatflat.psd and Specialfeatover.psd.

2. Examine how these files were created, then close the files.

4. Once you are done with the above steps, import those two files into DVDSP.

5. Create a menu and program the background and overlay.

6. Create some hotspots and define the colors for the selected and activated states.

7. Test it out to make sure you've done it properly.

8. Put your project with the menu back on the network in a folder with your name on it in the 2.27 student assignments folder.
